F/X Menu

To select a filter to apply, open the F/X menu.
Photonyx > F/X
Select a special filter or a submenu of special filters. For example the blur
submenu... displays five different blur effects. To choose the specific effect you want to
apply to your current project, displace your cursor on the target and when it's
highlightened click on your magic left button. Some effects are performed immediately and
others offer more options through a related dialog box.
Useful
Shortcut : Ctrl + F = recalls the last used special filter

One of the great advantages of the default filter palette is the previewing facility
and options it offers. Photonyx is most of the time very fast in applying the filters to
the whole image (even when applied on large images). If you want to have a near real time
preview on the whole project be sure to leave the "Preview" checkbox checked.
This will automatically calculate the preview on the main project window. Anyway through
the preview pane and it's options you can quickly navigate and preview the result in real
time.
In the upper left corner of each filter dialog box you'll find the preview pane.
- Left-click with your mice to open the Preview Navigator. Hold on the
left button and use the right one to zoom in (+ ctrl key to zoom out) and displace the
preview bounding box representing boundaries of the thumbnail you see in the preview pane.
In fact, the Preview Navigator works exactly like the Project Navigator except the fact
you have to hold on the left button of your mouse.
- Actual pixels shows you the image in the preview pane in its real pixel
size. It is no more a preview as it shows you the final result of the filter on a smaller
part of the real image.
- The Full button simply resizes the preview to fit in the preview pane.
You get the largest possible entire image that may fit in the preview pane.
It' is really important to note carefully that the following explanations
about the handling of the filter palettes only apply to our homemade ones. As with expect
in the near futur that many indedependant developers will create and commercialize their
own "photonyx compatible" special filters, you should excpect to find different
interfaces designs than this one.
Here follows a comprehensive list of effects with more detailed explanations about how
they work.
